What credentials are offered in the Anger Management field?
Our Anger Management Trainer workshops and home-study courses provide the following:
1. Designation as a Certified Anger Management Trainer by the Anger Management Institute.
2. Qualification for the credential (upon submission of NAMA membership and fee) as an: Anger Management Specialist-1. *Home-study students need to complete 4 phone training supervision sessions.
The practice of anger management is not regulated at this time but, courts, corrections departments, employers, institutions, human resource directors, managersĀ and others are looking for credentialed professionals using research-based programs/treatment. Thus, the National Anger Management Association is leading the way in establishing standards for the field and for professionals. They have provided the designation: Anger Management Specialist (various levels). You can read more about these NAMA certification levels at: www.namass.org
The Anger Management Institute provides the certification programs (approved and endorsed by NAMA) which qualify participants for the Anger Management Specialist level one designation.
The following is the description of and requirements for designation by NAMA as an Anger Management Specialist level 11. This certification requires a minimum of Anger Management Specialist I Certification or equivalent, a professional mental health state license and professional liability insurance. Certifies individual to provide anger management clinical services including anger management counseling, anger management therapy in accordance with their particular mental health license.
1. Anger Management Cases Component
Completion (at minimum) of 40 hours of Anger Management cases hours as an Anger Management Specialist-I and at least 6 months of anger management individual or group facilitation.
2. Supervision Component
Completion of a minimum of 4 supervised anger management sessions with a NAMA approved supervisor. The supervision can be completed in person or by telephone. The fee for Supervision will be determined by your approved supervisor and yourself. Approved Anger Management Supervision Providers We can provide the supervision for this level.
3. Application Component
Complete Application (process fee $100) and provide proof of Anger Management Specialist I Certification.
The higher levels require creating an approved curriculum, more years of experience, etc.
